The Green Gown Awards are hosted by the EAUC to celebrate the best work around sustainability in the tertiary education sector.
This year – as the awards celebrate their tenth anniversary – we’re really excited to congratulate such a huge number of finalists being recognised for their involvement in our movement’s sector-leading greening work.
So much of the amazing work carried out by Students’ Green Fund projects is being recognised. Entire projects have been nominated at:
· City University London,
· University of Exeter Students’ Guild
· University of Roehampton and Roehampton Students’ Union
· University of Worcester Students’ Union,
These nominations are proof of the incredible impact of what staff and students doing across their campuses and communities through their mass-engagement projects, whether for energy efficiency in private homes, or for linking academics with students to collaborate on new projects.
But many other students’ unions are being showcased for more specific innovations within their greening work.
At the University of Gloucestershire Students’ Union, the incredible expansion of their social enterprise models is being commended, while at UCLan Students’ Union, innovative strategies for staff engagement earned their nomination.
Elsewhere, at the University of Liverpool Guild of Students, their amazing outreach into local primary schools is being celebrated, while at the University of Leeds, it’s their sustainability garden at the heart of campus. The diversity of these projects is almost as impressive as their impact.
Congratulations to absolutely all of you who have been nominated. There have been 102 finalists announced, and you can read them all here.
Our movement has had its biggest ever year for putting students at the cutting edge of leading environmental solutions, and the quantity and breadth of these nominations are testament to that. Through Students’ Green Fund, Green Impact and other of our sustainability initiatives, students are developing new skills and experience as leaders in the green sector.
We’re so proud that the nominations of this year’s Green Gown Awards reflect your dedication to sustainability. Best of luck to everyone this November.
